Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal data the ebazaar app, website and admin services (“ebazaar”, “we”) collect, why, and the choices you have. It applies to everyone who uses ebazaar. We process personal data in line with the UAE Personal Data Protection Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021) and other laws that apply to us.

1. Data we collect

Account details: name, email address and/or phone number, password (stored only as a secure hash), profile photo, language, currency and country.
Ads and business profiles: the text, photos, videos, prices, location (country, city, area and, if you choose, a map pin) and contact details you publish.
Messages: the chats you send to and receive from other users.
Identity checks (optional): photos of your ID document and a selfie, if you ask for the verified badge. These are stored privately and seen only by our review staff.
Ratings and reviews you give or receive.
Device and usage data: app opens, searches, technical logs, IP address, and a push notification token if you allow notifications.
Sign-in providers: if you sign in with Google, Apple or connect a Facebook Page, we receive the basic details those services share with your permission.

2. Why we use it

To run your account and show your ads and business profile to buyers.
To let buyers and sellers contact each other.
To keep ebazaar safe: review ads, prevent fraud and spam, verify identities and businesses, and enforce our terms.
To send codes, account messages and notifications you have not turned off. Offers and news are sent only if you turn them on.
To understand how ebazaar is used and improve it.
To meet legal obligations.

3. What other people can see

Your ads, business profile, public name and photo, ratings and the contact details you choose to show are public. Your email, password, identity documents and private messages are not public.

4. Who we share data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers that help us run ebazaar (server hosting, email and SMS delivery, push notifications through Expo and Firebase/Apple, sign-in with Google or Apple), when the law requires it, or to protect users and ebazaar from fraud or harm. These providers may process data outside the UAE with appropriate safeguards.

5. How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we erase your name, email, phone and photo and remove your ads within 30 days, except where we must keep records for legal, tax or fraud-prevention reasons. Notification history is removed after 180 days. Backups are overwritten within 14 days.

6. Security

Connections are encrypted (HTTPS). Passwords are hashed, sensitive keys are encrypted at rest, staff access requires two-step verification and is logged.

7. Your rights

You can see and edit your details in the app, turn notifications on or off, and delete your account at any time (Account → Delete account). You may also ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to restrict or object to its use, by writing to privacy@ebaazars.com.

8. Children

ebazaar is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

9. Changes

We will post any changes here and, for important changes, tell you in the app.
